My able assistants in the kitchen

Dearest Ashley & Abby,

Last Sat was a memoriable day for me. My day started with Ashley waking me up at 7am to prepare breakfast and lunch. Ashley was such a great help especially it was the first time Mummy was trying something new - baked potatoes for breakfast and La Wei Fan & Liang Dou Fu soup for lunch.

Ashley helped Mummy springled the cheese and bacon bits on the baby potatoes and peeled shallots/baby onions. Together with Abby, both peeled 10 quail eggs for the soup. Good Job!

Am so happy when you guys and Daddy enjoyed my cooking so much that you finished everything and asked for more. I also packed some for Ah Ma and she gave positive feedback. So encouraging.

On Tue, I tried preparing the white fungus with pear dessert that Aunty Celine taught me. Unfortunately, you guys don't like it. Mummy was quite disappointed at first as this took a long time to cook the dessert. However, Mummy decided to continue trying by baking your favourite chocolate sponge cake yesterday. Bingo! You guys love it! We will bake a cookie and cream cake this Sun together! Can't wait.

Guess where did Mummy and Aunty Celine learn how to bake chocolate sponge cake? From a young man who was demonstrating how to bake a sponge cake using a ceramic wok! Eventually, we bought the wok and the baking power from him. He even showed us how to make popcorn using the wok. Yesterday was the very first time that Mummy stood through a cooking demo at a shopping mall for 20 mins. Never knew it can be so fun! Will introduce you to the young chef. He is really good!

Mummy is going to the wet market with Aunty Celine now to buy some fresh fish for tomorrow's porriage breakfast. I feel like a little girl playing "masa masa", cooking and baking new stuff. This afternoon, we'll making durian puffs, Daddy and Mummy's favourite. Yes, I've also taken your order of the new improved version of ham & cheese spaghetti, mushroom soup and mac & cheese.

Hey, sometimes it is fun to try new things. Sometimes, it is also fun to try to do the same thing in a new way! Thanks to my inspirational friend cum cooking teacher, Aunty Celine. 3 cheers for her!!!

Love you,
Mummy, the late bloomer chef-in-the-making
